A reader/follower of my Twitter feed found Ellyn. I wasn’t able to find her because, well, I spelled her name incorrectly all of these years. Becky is also Becca. This shows how faulty our memories can be, or at least mine can be. I’ve always been terrible with names, but maybe I should learn how to get better at remembering people.
What if you paid off her house? Maybe it is already paid off. Or Becca's? Some kind of gift of financial scale that stuns them. Obvs I throw this out with no knowledge of your magnitude of wealth, so, grain of salt. But, just from a pure story-arc beauty, considering the tangibles of their showing up for you all those years back: providing a home, and those dollars you swiped? Circling back on those tangibles seems pretty profound.
Didnt read all the backstory but the bit i got was heartwarming. To offer advice on what to get her thats a interesting dilemna. My first instinct is nothing , wait before you shoot me dead in my boots. Id suggest buy her a cup of coffee and a afternoon of chat initially .I find most people that help other people dont want anything in return and it seems weird to get stuff back for something your happy to give for free . After that id ask her what would she do if she won $500,000 or if a genie came out of a lamp and granted her a wish that should be a good direction signal. Congrats by the way on the lucky find.
I think she would love to know just how successful you became . Send her a video and replace the money you borrowed that got you through your days when you were homeless, without having a mother who did not care and dumped you. She became your mother and forgave you everything. What a beautiful lady! Send her some money to help her through her remaining days. Let her make the decision of how she wants to use it.
